Lime tree outside my house overhanging garden.
Reported in the Roads and Carriageways category anonymously at 13:30, Sun 22 September 2019
Sent to Oxfordshire County Council 5 minutes later
Mature lime tree hangs over my front garden (22 St Marks Road). It needs to be radically pruned back as well as the base shoots cutting as they obscure the pavement. The leaf drop in autumn is significant but the leaves are never swept up.

The tree you have described is managed on a cyclical work programme known as pollarding, where the regrowth will be removed from the crown of the tree and subsequently allowed to regrow. The removal of basal growth from the tree is managed in a similar way, however is done so more regularly. This will be carried out as part of a programme of works. Thank you for your enquiry.

The Lime trees in St Marks Road are lovely, but the council does not take responsibility for the following:- Cutting back the shoots at the bottom of the trees which obstruct the pavement Cutting back branches which overhang front gardens Sweeping up the leaf fall
At the moment I attempt to keep the pavement clear outside my own house, but frankly I’m paying a huge amount of council tax and should not have to do this.
