Further Pavement Works along the Wallingford Road
Reported via iOS in the Footways and Pavement damage category anonymously at 16:27, Wed 18 September 2019
Sent to Oxfordshire County Council 3 minutes later
We have noticed as a parish council the pavements have been marked up for repair.
In this location on the Wallingford Road, in front of Glebe Cottages, the pavement is not only in disrepair, it also has a number of other issues with it we would like to discuss with someone.
At the southbank end of the pavement, there is no dropped curb, to allow wheelchairs or pushchair users to use it safely.
The “ups and downs” the main pavement v the dropped pavement for the driveways, have, over the years progressively got steeper / higher due to resurfacing / modifications etc.
The road:pavement curb is VERY high compared to most of the other pavements in the village.
There are a number of disabled members of the parish, including the gentleman at #10 Glebe cottages, who no longer leave their house due to the pavement outside, the steepness of the up/downs and lack of dropped curb at the end, ultimately preventing them from leaving their home.
Rather than patching the pavement in its current condition, we request some consideration is made about the general suitability of the pavement and whether remedial works can be done to improve the user experience and allow more people to safely use it.
