Blocked surface water drain outside the front of no1 West Cottages OX27 9 BP

Sent to Oxfordshire County Council 2 minutes later
I’ve just moved into 1 west Cottages, Ox27 9BP which I believe has been empty for about 2 years so can’t accurately say how long the issue with the drainage in the street has been there. when it rains the drain shown in the close up photo is overflowing and backing up to the surface water drain at the side of the house. I have rodded as far as I can to ensure the drains within my boundary are clear (which they are) and then measured the distance(approximately 45” along the grass from the road side). The blue disc shown in the photos is around the area of an obstacle in which I could go no further. I am worried with the weather changing and the house being so old and not having a damp course that any overflowing water will sit against the property and cause problems.

Thank you for your report. The gully issue/blockage will be included in our forthcoming gully cleansing programme. As there are limited budget we have to prioritise high flood risk areas. Sometimes due to the volume of water pooling accrues even when drain itself is not blocked, Oxfordshire as a whole suffers from this issue and this takes time to flow away. If there is pooling it does not mean there is a flood risk or threat to property and there for this will not be treated as High risk at this time. We will continue to monitor this on our routine inspections. Regards.
