An unmarked 8cm deep trench has appeared across an unlit downhill cycle path.

Sent to Oxfordshire County Council 5 minutes later

A cycle path comes downhill on to Hazel Road here from the north. It's unlit (lights are installed but not connected). Someone has recently dug a trench about 8cm deep right across where you go from cycle path to road. It's unmarked, and will be completely unexpected, because until yesterday it was ramped. I don't know who is responsible for digging it, but since a cyclist is likely to be hitting it at 20mph it needs fixing urgently. I will also notify Persimmon, the developer of the Tilbury Fields estate.

  • You're right : the trench was a temporary thing in preparation for filling with asphalt to make a smooth ramp on to the cycle path. That's now been done, and it's fine. But quite how the contractors (Tithegrove) could have left it overnight (perhaps two nights) in that dangerous state I can't imagine. I think when I contacted them they moved pretty swiftly.

    Thanks for checking it out.
