Requesting No Entry Zone or Keep Clear Sign for drivers to stop driving in and out of the road and then taking a UTURN

Reported in the Road Traffic Signs and Road Markings category anonymously at 11:15, Fri 6 September 2019

Sent to Oxfordshire County Council 5 minutes later

Requesting a Keep Clear Sign or no entry zone which can be quite stressful due to the amount of drivers coming on to Woburn close right all the way down to 35 Woburn Close and then deciding to take a uturn back where they came from. they need to action something as there are a lot of Elderly residents who live on that street and there are a lot of complaints.

I reported that there were dangerous trees on highway land. You reported that someone has been out and has reported it is not your responsibility. I have therefore attached an extract from the Land Registry showing the land in the ownership of Taylor Wimpey. You will see that at the rear of Nr 3 Woburn Close in Middleton Road does indeed own some land, it is approximately 1m deep at the south of the boundary decreasing to 0m at the northern boundary. The tree trunks are to the west of this area on the highway verge. The un-coloured land on the map is unregistered land which is because Middleton Rd existed a long time before the land registry came into being and the private land adjacent to the road is shown as being coloured. Please ask the highway inspector to contact me to discuss this. It is a fact that the trees are on highway land, and if an accident was to occur to the resident of number 3 Woburn Close, or to anyone waiting at the bus stop then liability will be with the County Council and those individuals who are trying to save money by not accepting responsibility.

  • Thank you for your report. We have looked Woburn Close and note that it is already clearly signed as a cul-de-sac. Any visitor or public service/delivery drivers entering the close will need to turn round in order to exit and the far end is laid out as a turning head in order to facilitate this. If you have any specific examples of a hazard being created by turning vehicles please do not hesitate to contact us again. I'm sorry that I can only answer your traffic related query but will pass your concerns regarding the trees to the relevant team - it may be helpful if you would submit a separate report on this as unfortunately once a reply has been sent it is not possible to reassign this report to another officer.
