This new road covering is like flapjack!! Crazy that we've waited a few years for the terrible pot hole situation to be fixed and now, we have an INCREDIBLY sub-standard covering which will be broken up in weeks, not months. Already being patched up today due to several holes whereby the original road underneath can be seen. NOT HAPPY!!!!

Thank you for your report. sorry for the delayed responce, i have been in contact with our H&D team and have the follwing for you -
The works on Wellington Close, Bicester form part of the countywide Micro-Surfacing programming encompassing 41 sites throughout Oxfordshire. Micro-Surfacing is a cold-applied thin bituminous surface treatment using bitumen emulsion binders and fine graded aggregates with fillers and other additives and is ideal for use on urban roads and utilised to re-seal the existing carriageway maintaining the structural integrity and preventing ingress of water that could lead to more costly repairs. Unlike conventional surfacing ‘Micro’ requires sufficient time to fully cure and achieve full embedment/settlement from passing vehicles (both of which are dependent on items such as weather and traffic volumes), if necessary mechanical sweeping to remove any excess chippings will take place. Absorption or evaporation of the various chemicals within the mixture overtime will continue to improve the appearance over the following weeks and months.
Whilst the current works programme is in progress our sub-contractor will re-attend sites to pick up ‘snagging’ issues or early onset defects as you have kindly highlighted, for Wellington Close this will be scheduled to commence wk. beginning 9th September. Following completion of the works programme and dependant on the severity of any further defects these will be investigated on an individual basis. Minor defects (typically dependant on size, severity etc) will be continue to be monitored and then included in the following years programme of works with the defect treated and costs incurred by the sub-contractor. For major defects, an investigation would take place with an agreement made with the appropriate sub-contractor to determine the best course of action, this could be further surfacing or alternative treatments. The contractor would then be instructed to re-attend at the earliest opportunity and repair as agreed.
Hope this helps, kind regards
