Debris and vegetation on A40 cycle path
Reported in the Grass category anonymously at 12:39, Thu 29 August 2019
Sent to Oxfordshire County Council 2 minutes later
Hello, please can you sweep and clear the cycle path along the A40 as there is considerable debris. This ranges from broken glass, rubbish chucked from cars, bits of metal and plastic. There is also a considerable amount of vegetation building up: both in terms of dead leaves, grass growing form the edges into the path, overhanging shrubs and trees, and also tall vegetation leaning in from the side. The vegetation is solely creeping in and breaking up the path: this will only weaken the tarmac and cause greater deterioration if not stopped. it is also very difficult for 2 cyclists to pass in places, due to the overgrowth.

Thank you for your report. Unfortunatley this is not the responsibility of Oxfordshire County Council. It would be the District Council's responsibilty to clear debris and rubbish etc. Sorry we can't be more help.

Hi I've had a response that says this is the responsibility of WODC. I first sent my request to WODC, who replied to say that, the cycle path is the responsibility of the County council (reference WOD00083006). Who is right? Is this why the cycle path is so neglected, because OCC and WODC both think the other is responsible? Hope to hear from you. Helen

Hi Please can you give me a name and contract details for someone in OCC so that I can discuss this please? This is so I can clarify exactly whose responsibility it is. OCC says it is the responsibility of WODC. WODC says it is the responsibility of OCC. Thanks Helen
