Lights not changing for cyclists

Reported in the Traffic Lights (permanent only) category anonymously at 08:39, Friday 23 August 2019

Sent to Oxfordshire County Council less than a minute later

Hi Traffic Team I cycle this way every day and often have problems both ways with the lights not changing for me my bike. Often have to wait for a bus to come to trigger them. Just wondered if anything could be done. Thank you

  • An Engineer has attended site and checked the operation of the junction. In the absence of vehicles the signals were seen to rest as intended on the eastbound approach, then serving demands registered by users of the junction. Both the Westbound and Southbound approaches have above ground detectors, which were seen to be detecting cycles waiting at the stop. However, due to the junctions layout the operation can appear sluggish when moving from stage to stage. I wondered if there was a particular approach which is more troublesome?

  • Since Engineers visit the operation of signals has been re-checked and monitored.
