Sent to Oxfordshire County Council and South Oxfordshire District Council 1 minute later

Works to the pavement are carried out. Member of the public called in to ask if we could install bollards on the pavement to prevent lorries damaging it. He said that this is a third time pavement needs to be repaired and bollards could help to prevent this in the future

  • Dear All, just wanted to add that a bollard will prevent bin lorries to damage the pavement as they have done in the past.

  • Thank you for your report and apologies for delay in response. We do not currently have the funds to install something like this

We would suggest that an initial approach is made to your Town Council so that due consideration can be given towards its priority within the local area and so that the proposal can be endorsed and promoted locally. Town Councils are also well placed to secure the necessary financial cost to such a scheme.

  • Dear Sirs, many thanks for your reply. I appreciate the funding constraints but I think it is a false economy. It is only a matter of time before a lorry damages the pavement again. Fixing it will cost us (the taxpayers) way more than a bollard.....
