Blocked culverts (4) on North side of road opposite Thomas Hughes Memorial Hall4 sl

Sent to Oxfordshire County Council 5 minutes later
The 4 piped culverts leading from roadside into the ditch have become completely blocked over recent years and cause flooding in moderate+ rain. The road has a good surface!! which will become a skating rink in winter if it freezes.high risk of accident then because the road is not visible until the last minute to traffic coming from broad street. I’ve tried hard to clear with drain rods but no success, needs professionals with specialist kit. May be roots in the pipes? Please help avoid accidents. Thank you.

Nothing has been done. This photo shows the location of the puddles although they are often larger, reaching up to 5 feet into the road and getting 2-3 inches deep. Pedestrians, including children going to and from the nearby primary school, are often soaked by passing cars. If the puddles freeze in winter there is a high risk of skid accidents.
I have tried yet again with rods to free the pipes leading from the road to the ditch but without success. There are major blockages in the pipes, which are around 2.5 metres long.
Please resolve this before the winter.

I happened to meet the Oxfordshire CC inspector when he came to inspect the problem around 6-7 weeks ago. He marked up the (5) culverts which need clearing. NOTHING HAS HAPPENED since then. He mentioned that he felt the ditch into which the culverts lead needs digging out, to improve flow, and suggested that OCC might write to the Vof W H DC on this issue. Whilst I agree it would be sensible to dig out this ditch, it is NOT essential for this to be done before the culverts are clear, as there is already a reasonable degree of space in the ditch for water flow. PLEASE can we have action on this before the winter sets in, the road freezes and someone is injured in an accident!!

This is as bad as it has ever been, and we have now reached the time of year when the repeated and significant flooding is a significant risk to pedestrians and motorists. This cannot be resolved locally without the necessary equipment.
