Traffic light sensor does not notice bicycles.

Leaving bicester village and turning right towards town centre, traffic lights do not turn green if you are on a bicycle.

  • Thank you for contacting Oxfordshire County Council Traffic Signals. The detection loops in the road are triggered by electro-magnetism, so will not work on for bicycles that are non-ferrous. Demands for the right turn will only be served for vehicles which go over this detector (see attached). Alternatively the footpath adjacent to the road is available for cyclists to bypass the traffic signals altogether.
