Fixed
Out of date sign
Reported in the Road Markings category anonymously at 16:04, Sat 10 August 2019
Sent to Oxfordshire County Council 1 minute later
This sign on Lower road is now incorrect. Mill Lane has been diverted so one cannot go straight on at what was once the crossroad, as it is no longer a crossroad. This sign needs to show that Mill Lane requires a right turn followed by a left turn. The current sign is potentially dangerous as an unsuspecting driver will arrive at the junction with Thame Road/Station Road and not be sure which way to go as there is no information as to where to go. I would politely point out that I can't help but feel that Bloor Homes/Oxfordshire County Council/South Oxfordshire District Council have made a real pig's ear out of the realignment of Mill Lane!

Thanks for reporting this issue. I have carried out an investigation into it and I can confirm that the developer is in the process of organising the approved temporary sign to be installed ASAP whiles we wait for a stage 3 safety Audit to be undertaken. We apologise for the delay in getting the signage installed.

The developer, Bloor Homes, appears to be dragging its feet over this sign! Why is BH only now organising a temporary sign? I would have thought that the basic due diligence when proposing to divert roads would ensure that temporary signs are available as and when needed. That said, there have been no "New Road Layout" signs or even "Diversion" signs to help the unsuspecting drivers following the closure of the old Mill Lane junction. Whether Bloor Homes is just incompetent or whether it just doesn't care is a question that I am unable to answer. What appeared to be a straightforward road diversion seems to have caused several problems for the developer.

I am very tempted to say "Of course it isn't fixed! It's only been a month." It really seems to be the height of ineptitude that the sign is still wrong.

They simply removed the sign. I suppose it's a slight improvement, giving no info rather than incorrect info.
Still pretty pathetic!
