Tight u-turn in the road means the corner is getting cut and eroded.

Turning off the A44 at the Sandy Lane roundabout and onto Rutten Lane involves a very tight turn, almost a U-turn and the road is not wide enough to accomodate large vehicles like lorries or buses; there are buses along here every half hour during the day. Large vehicles have either to swing out across the white line and into the approaching lane, or to cut the corner causing the substantial area of worn-away grass and puddles, as the photo shows. It looks as though the inner curb needs to be reset and the curve of the road made smoother.
