(1) The Pedestrian Crossing Lights on the A4421 & A41 Pedestrian Crossings, attached to the 'Rodney House Roundabout', Bicester, do not turn 'Green' when it is safe to cross each road but stay 'Red', and (2) none of them are 'Audible' when it is safe to cross so a Blind Person would have difficulty knowing when to cross safely.
Thank you for recently contacting Oxfordshire County regarding the Rodney House Roundabout traffic signal junction. An Engineer has attended site and checked the operation of the signals. The pedestrian facilities are all linked to the operation of the junction and appear in sequence if demanded. While onsite all crossing points were checked and found to operate without fault. As the crossings do not appear all at the same time, there isn’t an audible signal which would be misleading. To help visually impaired users, all push button units are fitted with tactile cones located under the units.
