Poor pedestrian crossing facilities
Reported in the Roads/highways category anonymously at 22:14, Tue 16 July 2019
Sent to Oxford City Council and Oxfordshire County Council 1 minute later
The junction at Hollow Way, Horspath Road and Barracks Lane is heavily used by pedestrians including school children. The pavements on the corners are narrow and there is no button to cross on two/three of the corners. This is a safety issue for pedestrians. Cars also travel across this junction at speed.

Thank you for your report. Unfortunately there is no funding currently available for any improvements here. From our strategy point of view, given the accident record is low and there are alternatives for people to cross via the western side we wouldn’t necessarily see this as a priority given the cost. Equally this junction is critical on the local bus network – journey times for the routes which pass through here have already deteriorated quite badly over recent years and whilst appreciate the comment that the signal phase and timings wouldn’t affect traffic flow/ congestion any further delay even a small one would be a cause for concern.
