Stinging nettles and weeds
Reported in the Grass and Hedges category anonymously at 09:07, Tuesday 16 July 2019
Sent to Oxfordshire County Council 3 minutes later
This alley has not been cleared of stinging nettles and weeds this year. Between Appleford drive and Hedgemead. It’s an absolute disgrace. Very dangerous for young mums with pushchairs as they have to use the cycle track which is very busy during term time.

Since this was reported, the vegetation is now grown over the full width of the pedestrian side of the path. The nettles are now narrowing the path at the end to less than a double buggy and so one mum who I see most mornings is struggling to get her children through without stinging them. I cycling along here and it is also restricting my view of oncoming pedestrians forced onto the wrong side. I cut some away a month or so back, but please can the rest be cleared before someone gets hurt. Thanks

Hi there - unfortunately there has still not been any action on this. As the schools have started back, this route is busy again and so it would be great if this could be looked at urgently. Pedestrians are facing bikes head on, bikes are facing double buggies head on, please cut back the vegetation to allow people to use the correct sides of the path safely. Thanks

This issue has not been resolved, it still looks a total disgrace!!!!!!!!!!! No work has been done along this alley all summer and the stinging nettles are a real problem and it’s getting worse. Such a shame as this is a very busy alley used by parents walking kids to school and cyclists.

Hi there - I am writing to the person who originally posted this issue. (thanks!) I have also updated the 'ticket' trying to get the cycle / pedestrian path to be cleared. I have reopened another ticket (https://fixmystreet.oxfordshire.gov.uk/ report/ 1770297) in the hope they will lock into why it has still not be done, despite this ticket being closed. ...fingers crossed it will soon be done! Cheers
