Safety Barrier Removed

Reported in the Pavements category anonymously at 20:58, Fri 12 July 2019

Sent to Oxfordshire County Council 2 minutes later

This is one of Safety barrier locations behind Tesco's where the metal barrier which has been in situ for 25+ years has been removed with no reason, no notice and no one knowing who or why. It may seem a good idea but for parents not so good, please note it goes straight out onto a roadway, albeit a dead end which school staff and parents use. There is a silly little wooden post in replacement but not a good idea as I am sure it will not slow children / bikes down, When it becomes known who has done it I would love to see the risk assessment and how much it cost.

  • I had a reply from CDC stating the barriers were removed in order to promote cycling and the like. NO RISK ASSESSMENT was completed. Today I saw three children run up to the edge of the road ( no barrier ) but luckily stopped. An OAP was driving a car and had to brake sharply and then told the parents she nearly had a heart attack due to children suddenly appearing. I have made complaints to CDC but to no avail at this time. If anyone has any suggestions then please advise
