Roundhill road, Mollington
Reported in the Pothole category anonymously at 07:38, Wed 10 July 2019
Sent to Oxfordshire County Council 2 minutes later
The potholes are on the road as indicated on the map. There are two significant holes on either side of the road, both approximately 2-3” deep and 2-3’ wide but getting deeper and wider at a fast rate. The potholes have been developing since last autumn and are now at a point where it is only a matter of time before either ourselves, neighbours or any number of delivery vehicles do significantt damage to the vehicle. If left till winter then at the rate these holes are developing the road may become impassable for anything other than 4x4 vehicles.

Thank you for your report. All pothole defects which meet Oxfordshire County intervention criteria have been raised for repair in the location given and are now completed. I have also referred this location to a Technical Officer for future programmes.

Can you please reopen this. I would guess that whoever came and looked at potholes in this area either missed these or assumed they aren’t under OCC responsibility, which they are. You can see from the attached that the deterioration is worsening and the undamaged section is now smaller than the width of a car. So the problem is going to get worse faster and it is only a matter of time before damage or injury happens and claims are made. Thanks

Hello, is there any news on this? Since I last uploaded the photo on 10th August the potholes are getting worse. Once the frost gets in over winter this road will fall apart. Can you please come a repair quickly?
Thanks Phil Hingley

The first photo is in case the is any confusion about the location of the problem which is a spur off Roundhill road leading to Hollybank and School House. On August 29th I spoke to Amir who said he would contact a highway officer to come and look at the problem (Ref: 1690833). We agreed that 2 weeks was a reasonable time frame for this. On the 13th September I spoke to Monica. There were no further notes on the case. She said she would ask the area operations team to attend and took my contact details so they could let me know their findings. To repeat comments already made, this road is dangerous. I have asked that the investigating officer drive their own car up the road as if they were visiting one of the houses. They are also welcome to use one of my bins to experience taking it down to the flat grassy area for collection if they wish!

Since the last post Steve Lapper, the parish councillor with responsibilty for roads, has informed me that he has emailed Nick and asked him to visit the site, expessing his opinion that we are likely to have problems with access to our homes unless the road is properly repaired soon. The heavy rain over the last few days has done more damage. Could you please update me with any progress? Gillian Jenkins

Hello, I understand there has been a survey completed and acknowledgement that the repairs are needed. Can you please confirm when this will happen? The heavy rain has made things worse and if left, then I would imagine the frost will completely breakdown what is left. Regards Phil Hingley

Hello, can someone provide a status on this please? The damage is getting worse and this has been an open report since last July.

Hi, the repairs that were done last year have completely deteriorated, as you can see from the attached pictures. Could you reopen this and arrange for fresh repairs or ideally send someone out to assess how a more permanent fix can be made?
Thanks
Phil
