Lane lines needed!

Reported in the Road Traffic Signs and Road Markings category anonymously at 09:06, Tuesday 2 July 2019

Sent to Oxfordshire County Council 4 minutes later

This roundabout (Tescos/Fairacres) to my understanding is a 2 lane roundabout. At the beginning of June I was hit by a 6 wheel lorry that decided it didn't need to use the correct lane to go straight on, upon reviewing the dash cam footage I have the driver was un aware that he drove at such a straight line causing him to crush my van against the roundabout. And today a car driver (not needing as much space) decided he would use both 'lanes' of the roundabout to go straight over, again nearly hitting me trying to use the 'inside' lane. What prevents there being lane markings on this roundabout?

  • Thank you for your report and apologies on delay in response, having inspected this site in passing, vehicles on all approaches do not currently have designated lanes and in these cases normal roundabout rules would apply as described within ‘Section 4’ of the Highway Code.

We note your suggestion about the designated lane markings and have noted this for when opportunity may arise to redesign the overall layout of this roundabout.
