Overgrown verge obscuring view

Reported via iOS in the Grass and Hedges category anonymously at 20:43, Tuesday 18 June 2019

Sent to Oxfordshire County Council 2 minutes later

Cars pulling out of whites lane right towards Abingdon are risking collision as the view of the road is obscured by high grass and overgrown hedges. It would also be very useful to install a mirror to identify traffic coming towards the junction.

  • Council ref: ENQ19835857. This was reported in June. The overgrowth is obscuring drivers coming into and down White's Lane. People emerging from Footpath 8 are at risk because drivers cannot see them amongst the vegetation. We have increased traffic on this road because of the development by Redrow at South Kennington. Some signs have been put up on the verge and some grass hacked to allow the signs to be read. This does not help pedestrian traffic and vehicles emerging from houses on Foxborough Road. Several near misses have been reported to Parish Council, some of whom were emerging on to White's Lane from Footpath 8. Radley Parish Council, of which I am Chairman, request urgent action before we see a serious incident here.
