Double bay disable parking space outside 107/109 Marlborough Road, Grandpont, Oxford. This problem then was that parking officers were reluctant to enforce as there was only one plate for the two spaces which, at the time, were narked with a dividing line. Council decided simply to have the line removed. That was effective until about a month ago when a warden came (No 338) to enforce and ticket a car which was not displaying a disabled badge.
He was very reluctant to do so as he maintained that, despite there clearly being two disabled spaces so marked on the tarmac, there was only the one plate on a post (actually the lamp post - see the picture) which is to the left of the two spaces. He maintained, probably correctly(?), that the plate should be on a dedicated post in the middle of the two spaces, i.e. on the boundary line between the two houses, and where the erased white line used to be that marked two bays!I am writing to request that action is taken as he suggested to re-site a post with the plate so that there is no doubt for wardens as to the validity of enforcement action being taken against illegal parking in the two marked bays. I know that both my two disabled neighbours would welcome such reassurance.

Although the Department for Transports standards states that one sign in the middle of a bay less than 30 m "should be sufficient" it actually specifies that a sign should not be more than 15 m from the end of a bay, which is clearly the case for this 12 m bay. Therefore the signing appears to conform to the standards. However, I have contacted the County Councils Parking team to seek their views on this interpretation.
