Need for traffic calming measures

Reported anonymously at 12:11, Wednesday 12 June 2019

Sent to Cherwell District Council and Oxfordshire County Council 4 minutes later

Islip road urgently needs traffic calming measures. Cars slow down over the speed humps at the other end of the village then speed up as they head towards Islip. Our house is near a sharp bend in the road. Our builder’s dog has already been killed on the road. It’s only a matter of time before someone is injured or worse as traffic comes down the road at speed.

  • I am afraid Oxfordshire County Council do not deal with speeding issues. I suggest you speak to your local Police Support Community Officer regarding this matter. However, I understand our Traffic team are also speaking to the Parish Council regarding possible measures for more signage and speed awareness. Thank you.

  • Hello and thanks for your prompt reply. I don’t think this is an issue for the Police. I am asking for either speed restrictions (eg 20mph as is being introduced in other parts of Oxfordshire) or possibly speed humps or other traffic calming measures.

Please can you advise who is responsible for this, if it’s not your department? Many thanks.

  • Drain blocked on the corner of Oxford Road and Station road Bletchingdon, the water is creeping up to the front door of 4 the row which may become flooded if the rain keeps up, it is made worse by the traffic driving through the floodwater driving it closer to the front door
