Because of the new development on the old Railway pub site a crossing has been installed with zigzag lines either. On the side of the road where the pub is these do not extend as far as Simons Close leaving an unmarked length where possibly 2 cars ‘could park’. Cars have parked here before and during the works and regularly since the co-op shop has been. However it has been getting worse and worse with irresponsible parking. When people park here or into the early part of Simons Close it is dangerous as you cannot see to turn out of Simons Close. People are parked illegally asi understand since you should not park within a certain distance of a road junction. In addition these can be parked on the pavement making it impossible for people with pushchairs to pass without going into the road. In addition living at 12 Simons Close it can be almost impossible to exit my drive. A short length o double yellow lines would serve the purpose. Would be pleased to discuss.

If my memory of Highway Code is correct is there not a Rule that states you must not park “opposite or within 10 metres (32 feet) of a junction, except in an authorised parking space” rule 243.
So the next question is will someone start to enforce the law as feels like no additional lines are required.

Thank you for your automated update saying that the issue is being investigated. Unfortunately there appears to be no parking control at all meaning irresponsible people, knowing this, park where they wish irrespective of the law. With double yellow lines drivers don’t need to know the highway as well as they should, although they should do, will act as a deterrent to many more and make it easier to prosecute. Although the zebra crossing is not yet active people have already got into the habit of parking on them. It definitely needs enforcement as well as deterrents.

The installation of formal waiting restrictions (yellow lines) requires the implementation of a ‘Traffic Regulation Order’, this involves a long and expensive legal process including public consultation, I regret that Oxfordshire County Council do not currently have the available funding for such a scheme.
We would suggest that an initial approach is made to your Parish Council so that due consideration can be given towards its priority within the local area and so that the proposal can be endorsed and promoted locally. Parish Councils are also well placed to secure the necessary financial cost to such a scheme.State changed to: Investigation complete
