Needs a give way sign on the slip from the A40 to Eastern by-pass

Reported in the Highway Schemes category anonymously at 07:42, Sunday 26 May 2019

Sent to Oxfordshire County Council 4 minutes later

Traffic coming onto the eastern by-pass from the A40 slip are often merge into the road at speed without expecting to give way - cars using the roundabout are in close proximity and don't expect to either have to slow down or brake harshly so soon leaving the roundabout- I have seen many near misses where cars coming from the A40 don't stop and force drivers to emergency stop or cut up other traffic in the outside lane of the eastern by pass.

  • Thank you for your report and apologies for delay in response. After looking into this the section of road you have enquired about would mot benefit from a 'Give Way' sign because the lane is intended for merging traffic. This means that when approaching this lane cars should be cautious that vehicles will be approaching and to then merge when it is safe to so

    State changed to: Investigation complete
