Island damaged after recent accident left in a dangerous state

Reported in the Road Traffic Signs and Road Markings category anonymously at 07:28, Friday 24 May 2019

Sent to Oxfordshire County Council 2 minutes later

There have been many accidents over the years involving cars crashing into the raised concrete island and speed bumps in the middle of the road. The most recent one in March 2019 caused extensive damage demolishing part of the concrete structure and the lighting. I am aware that this type of island was fitted as an experiment and no more of a similar style have been installed. Can you advise what plans there are to reinstate/repair/replace the island. Given the new development under construction virtually opposite I would hope consideration is being given to replacing it in a safer location and with a more appropriate structure. Over the years I have become accustomed to picking up and removing hub caps and other parts of vehicles that have hit the speed bumps/island structure when passing through and would like a more appropriate structure to be in place to prevent future accidents.
