Suggestion for upgrade to pedestrian crossing

Reported in the Traffic Lights (permanent only) category anonymously at 15:29, Tuesday 21 May 2019

There's an island crossing just opposite the turning onto Boston Road from the Launton Road which takes you across to the Telford Road Business Park. However, given the amount of traffic, the size of the lorries and buses that pass through and the speed of the traffic, I feel that this island it's not very safe, especially for those with babies in pushchairs and/or toddlers walking along holding a parent's hand. The island is just not wide enough to feel safe and I think that a pelican or puffin crossing would be highly beneficial for crossing the road at that end of the Launton Road to get across to the shops at both Telford Road Business Park and the Launton Road Retail Park. The next available pedestrian crossing is right down the other end of the Launton road, outside Child First Nursery and then further still, outside Garth Park.

Might an update to the island crossing opposite Boston Road be considered?
