Footpath 198/9 needs no cycling sign

We have had reports of a collision between a cyclist and pedestrian on footpath 198/9 near to Sunnybank, can you please put up no cycling signs on the end of the footpath opposite Hanney chapel and at the Iron bridge before an injury is caused.

Thank you for your report. The installation of 'no cycling' signage would require the implementation of 'Traffic Regulation Order' which involves a long and expensive legal process including full consultation, cycling on the footpath is an offence under the Highways Act 1835, for these reasons we would only positively sign either a shared cycle/pedestrian route or a segregated cycle/pedestrian route, i regret that we would therefore not provide teh 'no cycling' signage that you have requested.
