Speeding cars a danger to me and my young children
Reported in the Highway Schemes category anonymously at 09:27, Sun 5 May 2019
Sent to Oxfordshire County Council 3 minutes later
There are no pavements on this lane so we need to walk along the side of the road to go anywhere without driving. Due to the nature of the right turn onto this lane from the B4009, which is a blind turn to approaching traffic on the B4009 after only a few hundred feet, people accelerate strongly across the oncoming lane and don’t slow down as they pass the houses. My child was nearly run over due to a car driving at >40mph, which is not the first occurrence! This road should be a 5mph zone and consider making it one-way from Britwell Hill to the B4009. Very dangerous to walkers, cyclists and above all residents!

Unfortunately 5mph is not a speed limit that we work with. If there are issues with speeding please report this to the non emergency police on 101. Regards

Is there any follow up response to this or do I need to raise a new issue?

It appears that the first response was aimed at trying to exclude any further action by quoting some rules, which only identifies the gap between citizens attempting to engage with council services and the desire of those services to engage with citizens to achieve a great outcome. What are you going to do next?

I appreciate governance policies guide engagement with issues like this to act and incur cost only after statistics of death and collision prove an issue but I really don’t want one of my young children to be that statistic. If anyone is reading this please respond.
