No raised kerbs for alighting from buses
Reported in the Footways and Pavement damage category anonymously at 17:52, Thu 25 April 2019
Sent to Oxfordshire County Council 3 minutes later
Bus stops both sides of the pedestrian area by the Cornerstone have no raised kerbs. Despite buses dropping their platforms, the elderly and disabled are at high risk of falling off the bus with their walkers / trolleys due to the steep drop to the road. I personally have witnessed a few near misses!

Thank you for this report, sorry for the delay in reply. I have been informed by the road agreements team (that deal with a project before any land is taken over (adopted) by Oxfordshire County Council, Highways, that the scheme (for this site) was constructed and delivered as per the agreed drawings which have had to comply with planning conditions and issues raised by stage 1, 2 & 3 road safety audits.(RSA). None of the RSAs raised this particular issue and there are no recorded accidents in this area. That said
the Bus Infrastructure Officer has mentioned that their team did receive complaints about lack of kerbs in Station Road soon after the bus stops were installed and some improvements were made, though he was not aware of the detail. He also mentioned that lack of kerbs at bus stops in Oxfordshire is a concern that he tries to deal with as he recently undertook accessibility improvements at some of the worst offenders using a grant awarded from the National Productivity Investment Fund. So unfortunately there appears to be nothing that can be done for this site for at least the time being. This report is now closed.State changed to: Investigation complete
