There has been a significant increase in traffic flow along New Close Farm Road since recent planning permissions have allowed building works and development at New Close Farm site. Couriers and others are speeding along this speed unrestricted tarmac track endangering walkers, cyclists, horse riders and livestock. The local landowners are concerned and have discussed means of slowing traffic to a sensible speed along this route. As landowners our deeds show that we own the track to the midpoint adjacent to our property. All landowners have been consulted and agree that the problem is serious and needs addressing before a serious accident occurs. Gating has been discussed but the only sensible solution would be a series of speed bumps either side of the blind bends. As a private road this work could be carried out without highways permission. However since there is footpath along its length and a bridleway on part we are obliged to consult with yourselves. We have agreed to fund the works and are willing to provide a plan. Would the County agree/support the proposal in principle? Provision would be made for cyclists, walkers and horse riders to avoid the hump. We would appreciate your advice and where possible assistance in this matter. Whilst we are willing to fund the work we would obviously accept funding or a grant if it were available and advice regarding correct warning signage.
