Very tall trees.

Reported in the Trees category anonymously at 15:23, Tuesday 23 April 2019

Sent to Oxfordshire County Council 2 minutes later

The trees surrounding our garden are very tall, some as tall as the lampposts, and overhanging our garden by up to 10ft. They go from the A44 around the corner into Rutton Lane. Can you please let us know who is responsible for maintaining them. We understand they were probably put there as a noise reduction for the traffic from the A44 but they seem to be too tall and not dense enough to stop the traffic noise. We would be grateful for a reply as soon as possible.

  • We have visited site and assessed the trees in their location. The overhanging trees present are on land maintainable by an adjacent landowner and not by the County Council. You can access the land registry at: https://www.gov.uk/ search-property-information-land-registry at a cost of £7 to find details of the adjacent landowner to peruse your enquiry. You are also within your common law rights as a landowner to cut any overhanging vegetation back to the boundary line of your property.

    Many Thanks For your enquiry.
