Poor state of A417

Reported in the Roads/highways category anonymously at 22:25, Thursday 18 April 2019

Sent to Oxfordshire County Council 5 minutes later

This whole stretch of the A417 from Stanford to Faringdon suffers from dirt, mud and debris from the quarry lorries. The road sweeper used only sweeps away some debris and creates a slurry from the dust and mud, making the road even worse. Lorries exit the quarries dripping slurry from the wheelwash or from wet loads. Lorries are carving into the verge, moving even more earth onto the road. In several areas the road markings are completely obscured and the road surface is degrading as well. The drive along this section of the A417 is atrocious - in the wet your car is covered in mud, in the dry you are covered in dust and at any time you have to avoid large lumps of mud or worse rock, and it must be even more dangerous for cyclists. Something more substantial than a spray and a sweep is required.
