Street lamp on too late
Reported via iOS in the Street lighting category anonymously at 01:14, Mon 8 April 2019
Sent to Oxfordshire County Council 1 minute later
Lamp opposite my bedroom window stays on until 01:00. Can it not be set to 23:00 as it impairs my sleep?
Thank you

Unfortunately this lighting column is pre set to turn off at 1A.M and we are unable to change it. due to BST (British summer time) and will revert back when the clocks go backwards.

Thanks for your reply.
Would it not be possible ti fit a less intrusive bulb, maybe LED with less light scatter?

No response to my request for a less intrusive/less scatter LED bulb. In fact, this streetlamp serves no purpose as most of the area is unlit anyway.

Many thanks for the report and sorry that there wasnt a reply previously. Could you let me know street light ID number, i have passed on a map attached, im not sure we could fit an LED but might be able to shield the light in question to stop glare into your property.

It should be a number on the green box if its on a wooden pole, have a look on our map provided though it might correspond with the location, any issues we can try work it out

That is the correct location. We're no 53 directly opposite.

It looks to be pole bracket number 5 which is opposite house 53, near to southfield lane? Is this correct. At the moment this one is on our system needing to be repaired? I could try replacing with an LED and a front shield or modifying the existing

53 is my house. In an ideal world, there'd be no light at all there. The street only has one other much further up so not sure if it's actually needed. But if it has to stay, then LED with a shield/deflector would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks again

We have an LED programme in place to be implemented over the next few years starting very shortly, i will make sure this is on the list and high up , i will see if we can action sooner. It looks to be part of the highway specification that the light is required here. Sorry again for the light intrusion

Thanks. But a few years!!?
So who decides on the Highway specification or is it something that was done 50 years ago?

Its the standard spec but we are moving towards a new policy with LED lighting which we are in the process of implementing across the county. With the design of the road its required for the correct spacing and light levels that we have a column in the that location. We will also be looking to use a CMS system that can allow us to remotely change light levels and output. LED enables us to do this
