Sign pole in middle of pavement

Reported in the Pavements category anonymously at 10:50, Thursday 21 March 2019

Sent to Oxford City Council and Oxfordshire County Council 5 minutes later

When replacing a sign that was previously fixed to a lampost why have you placed a black pole holding the new sign right in the middle of the pavement? Pedestrians are now forced to step into the adjacent cycle lane to get past,

  • Thank you for your report. The new sign has a larger surface area than the original due to an additional destination. Consequently the wind loading exceeds the maximum permitted for the lamp column.
