Churchill Way Long Hanborough

Sent to Oxfordshire County Council 2 minutes later
We live at Churchill Way Long Hanborough Winey with a drop down kerb so we can park our cars in. But often people are parking in front of it on the opposite side making it unsafe for us and other road users. There is corner 50 yards from our entrance and very difficult for people driving through to notice that there is no space for them to pass through when we are trying to reverse out. So can I ask for double yellow lines to be painted on the other side so it will be safe for all users. It has now become urgent as we have had 2 misses last week when the children were going home from school

Thank you for your report. We have assessed it and found that it does not currently meet the criteria for intervention, so will not be fixing at this time. Parking restrictions require the making of an expensive legal order involving solicitors and widespread consultation. We would not pursue this in this instance. An access protection marking can be applied for to go outside a driveway for approx. £130. We would not put markings on the other side of the road. If access is constrained by features such as gateposts for example and you cannot manoeuvre within half the width of the carriageway, then we would expect the householder to make amendments to their property. The highway code advises against reversing onto the highway.
