Blocked connecting drain pipe

Reported in the Drainage category anonymously at 17:39, Wednesday 6 March 2019

Sent to Oxfordshire County Council 1 minute later

A couple of years ago OCC installed a drain outside the driveway of 84 Kennylands Road, linked to the drain outside 84A Kennylands Road by a narrow bore pipe, apparently too narrow, as it should have been a 4 inch pipe and a two inch flexi-pipe was used instead. This connecting pipe is now blocked as due to todays rain, the drain outside 84 Kennylands Road overflowed but the drain outside 84A did not. Please come and unblock the connecting pipe as more heavy rainfall is forecast and the driveway of 84 Kennylands Road flooded because of the blocked pipe.

  • A Biffa sweeper came this morning and swept the road, but no jetting team so far for the blocked connecting drain.

  • Thank you for your report. We have assessed it and found that it does not currently meet the criteria for intervention, so will not be fixing at this time. There is current capacity in the drains around this location at present but we will continue to monitor through regular inspections. Thank you.

  • Has the connecting pipe between the drains outside 84 and 84a been jetted as this is obviously blocked ?

  • An OPC operator came this morning and did a very thorough job of jetting the drains and slips to the gully on Kennylands Road. He also said that the connecting pipe between the two drains was not the correct width and should be replaced with a four inch pipe. Thank you for resolving this immediate issue though.
