Excessive speed past hidden
Reported in the Roads and Carriageways category anonymously at 10:14, Wed 6 March 2019
Sent to Oxfordshire County Council 2 minutes later
Vehicles driving at excessive speed around a blind corner past hidden turning to Wood Lane/Singe Wood.
Vehicles frequently travel at the speed limit (50mph) around the blind corner but this is too fast. There is a major hazard to cars turning into or out of Wood Lane.
The problem is exacerbated because Wood Lane slopes down the the main road therefore cars in Wood Lane can easily roll into the main road while waiting to pull out. If this happens it is not possible to recover as this would involve a hill start in reverse and a car would be left stranded in the middle of a blind bend with cars approaching at 50mph!
A lower speed limit is appropriate (40mph) together with improved road layout. We should consider traffic lights, calming measures, signage etc.
Thanks!

Hello. This issue needs to be reopened please. The issue is not that cars are breaking the speed limit (50mph currently). The issue is that the 50mph limit is too high and should be lowered to 30 or 40mph through Whiteoak Green to safeguard the elderly residents and children in the area. This would also benefit the public using the the Bird in Hand pub and accessing the woods via Wood Lane.
