Timing of temporary paedestrian crossing traffic lights adversely effecting traffic flow

Reported in the Traffic Lights (temporary only) category anonymously at 18:16, Tuesday 5 March 2019

Sent to Oxfordshire County Council 4 minutes later

The Temporary Paedestrian Traffic Light at the bottom of Headley way at road works are causing long tail backs down Headley Way towards Marsten including into John Radcliffe Hospital site at peak times (16:30 - 18:30). This is due to timing of traffic lights with long duration of red light. It would be worth considering changing the timing to assist traffic flow and reduce pollution from car exhausts. Typical journey time from John Radcliffe Site to Traffic Light is 45 minutes.

  • Last night an accident occurred at this new crossroad. I was told by locals this was the 3rd accident that had occurred at this new crossroads. This crossroads is a hazard and I urge you to make the traffic lights your priority. If they worked it would reduce the hazard significantly. A driver was hurt but is ok. It could have been so much worse if she had a passenger with her. I would hate to see other accidents occur at this junction. Please make this a priority.
