On Sunday 9th February 2019, during a driving lesson with my instructor, I ran over a very large and very deep pothole. This occurred at approximately 19:15. The location is on the corner of Brick Kiln Lane and A4074 in Littlemore. The front tire exploded when the car went over the pothole. I parked safely around the corner of the A4074 road. While waiting for road side assistance, I spoke to two gentlemen who had gone over this exact same pothole approximately 15-20 minutes before me. Their front and rear left tires were destroyed. Speaking to the ISIS recovery mechanic who took their car on a flatbed, I found out that he had been called earlier that day to assist a lady who had also fallen victim to this pothole. He reported that this was the fourth or fifth incident in the past day/two days. I also spoke a local resident who luckily spotted this pothole during the day time and just managed to avoid it. He reported that he first spotted this dangerous hazard on Thursday 7th February 2019. I imagine that during daytime and depending on the speed and flow of traffic it may be possible to safely avoid going over said pothole. However, during evening or night time with low/very low visibility this is not possible (especially without prior knowledge of the pothole). I hope this dangerous (and very likely expensive for drivers) situation is resolved soon.
