Traffic light for Cyclists needed

Reported in the Traffic Lights (permanent only) category anonymously at 14:29, Wednesday 13 February 2019

Sent to Oxfordshire County Council 1 minute later

Hi, can you please introduce a traffic light to allow cyclists to go ahead first, like they have on the high street junction with long wall street.

This has been an issue since before May 2017 and the fatality of Claudia Comberti ( news/ 15621713.INQUEST__Cyclist_Claudia_Comberti_killed_after_foot__slipped_from_bike_pedal_/ ). Nothing has been done at this junction as far as I can tell to help with preventing an accident occur like this again.

This could all be funded through the introduction of cameras to spot people jumping red lights or sitting in the box junction (yellow hatchings), like they have dotted all over London.

Thank you for your consideration

  • Thank you for contacting Oxfordshire County Council regarding the Botley Rd / A34 Slip Rd Junction.

As part of a future scheme along the Botley Rd, there are planned changes to this junction. I understand that an early start for cycles is being looked at, although the exact details of the changes haven’t been finalised.

I have forwarded your valued feedback on to those responsible for delivering the scheme.

    State changed to: Fixed
