Inaccurate destination markings or lane markings on westbound approach to Rodney House Roundabout

Reported in the Road Traffic Signs and Road Markings category anonymously at 19:59, Friday 8 February 2019

Sent to Oxfordshire County Council 1 minute later

The road markings on the westbound approach to the Rodney House roundabout (from the Bicester Village) were painted as follows:

B4100 | A4421 | A41(E) A4421 | A41(E) |

However, the way the snake road markings have been painted round the roundabout, the rightmost lane does _not_ lead to the A41(E) but only to either Graven Hill or A41(W) back towards Tesco/Bicester Village. The confusion has caused some near misses already. So either the destination markings are wrong or the snake road markings are wrongly painted, I'm unsure as to which should be correct.

  • Saw a crash here on Friday evening (8th Feb) and another one this morning - Monday 11th feb. Please change the road markings. The right hand lane states straight over to the A41 but it’s completely wrong!

  • Also the marking on approach to the roundabout from Langford Village are incorrect, and confusing. I've seen a few near misses.

On approach from Langford village the left lane is marked A41 Aylesbury, middle lane is A41 straight on M40 / Tesco, and right lane is marked B4100 straight on.

However, as you get onto the roundabout from the right hand lane, the markings change to B4100 right turn only.

I have seen so many drivers approach into the right-hand lane, which is clearly marked B4100, and then they go straight on across to the A41 towards the M40/Tesco.

Clearly the driver thinks they can go straight on from the right-hand lane, as the road marking on approach says they can, even though it also says B4100.

Road marking on the roundabout is B4100 right turn.

This is confusing, and I've seen a few near misses, and even had some myself, where a driver approaching the middle lane from Langford side goes around the roundabout, and towards M40/Tesco, only to encounter a car from the right hand side (in the right turn only B4100 lane) also trying to go down the A41.

    Please fix the road markings!!

    Thx
