This corner requires clear signage

Reported in the Road Traffic Signs and Road Markings category anonymously at 19:43, Thursday 7 February 2019

Sent to Oxfordshire County Council 2 minutes later

The oneway road heading past the church. Cars turning right out of this junction fail to look right for cyclists as they believe nothing should be coming up it, however it is a cycle path that is allowed to go in the opposite direction. Also cars coming down the road drive in the middle as they don't think other road users will be coming up it. Please may you place two signs, or a road marking.

  • Thank you for your report, we are now investigating this issue and an update will be posted as soon as possible. Can you provide more details as to the precise location? Are we looking at the Leys end or Church Green? The access to Mount House? Either way, drivers should be looking at what they are doing when making turns. Thank you.

  • Hello. It is the junction coming out of church green (at the church end) looking at the mount house junction. Drivers should be looking left and right, but they are only looking left. Drivers turning into that junction don’t look down the road for oncoming bikes. Most drivers understand it is a one way just after there so they don’t expect a cyclist to be coming up so they don’t bother to check. Also, I have been driven head-on in to and shouted at from drivers going down the one way section as they believe a cyclist should not be cycling up there. I hope this makes sense. Thank you for looking at it.
