Blocked road drain
Reported in the Blocked Drain / Gully category by Clive Turner at 19:47, Fri 1 February 2019
Sent to Oxfordshire County Council 3 minutes later
Blocked road drain outside the entrance to Appleton Manor.
I reported this blocked drain on 20th December last, please read again and had an email on Tuesday saying that the problem has been fixed, surprise surprise no it hasn't, I have reported this numerous times over several years it is no good just sucking the water up because in my humble opinion the pipe work between this drain and the next one down is blocked, this is serious because of the large pond size puddle across most of the road on a hazardous bend, when will this be dealt with properly, perhaps someone in charge might like to contact me to explain....

The drain is flooded again causing damage to both the tarmac and cobbled entrance way to a property. It is also causing cars and cyclists to move out into the middle of the road to avoid the water. The drain was marked up for clearing by a highways technician on Wednesday 23rd January. I met with the technician and showed her the various gullies along the stretch of the Eaton Road that also need clearing of debris. I pointed out that a gully emptier and root cutter were most probably required to stop this happening again. This had proved a solution to similar village drainage issues in the past. Please repair properly before serious injury occurs.

Well as you can see this problem has not been fixed or resolved at all. It says investigating! I wonder by who, someone from another county! Sorry to be so negative but this problem has been reported so often it’s becoming ridiculous. As I stated above I met a highways technician in January this year, I posted an update in early February and the problem still persists. So once again I’m asking will someone arrange clearance of this gully plus all the hidden ones in the verge from here to opposite The Plough pub, a gully emptier, root cutter and/or cctv to check if the pipe work is broken or damaged. You can contact me via my email for more detailed information or if you wish to make an appointment to discuss the issue.

Thank you for your report. I have looked at it and found that the original report was inputted incorrectly by me after i attrended and was shown where the gullies are. I have now rectified this issue and works have been arranged. Apologies, Hannah Wood, Highway Officer.
