Street light only working intermittently

Reported in the Street lighting category anonymously at 18:14, Friday 1 February 2019

Sent to Oxfordshire County Council less than a minute later

This streetlight, like a significant number of others on this road only works intermittently, with the light repeatedly on briefly, then off for a while during darkness.

This is making the road dangerous for pedestrians and cyclists particularly

To the layman it would appear that the bulbs used in the lights on this stretch of road are past their working life and need replacing.

Thank you for contacting Oxfordshire County Council Street lighting, unfortunately we are currently only available to respond to emergency situations which may have an impact on the health and safety of members of the public, these will be dealt with within a 24 hour period.
Reported faults will continue to be registered on our management system and these will be tackled in coming months.

Updates

  • This light number 27 is now damaged, the reflector is on the ground and the wires hanging out the unit.

Lamp number 29 now doesn't work at all. This section of the road resembles the black hole of Calcutta with two lights out.

  • I can see that several reports have been made but it appears that the casing is broken and therefore the wires dangling are more dangerous. Photo provided

  • Many street lights on the Faringdon Road in Southmoor and Kingston Bagpuize during darkness go on and off intermittently. This makes this road dangerous for cyclists and pedestrians. I see this has been reported several times. Please can it be fixed quickly .
