Rat running Ernest Road,Fairacres Road Oatlands Road,to avoid road humps in Newlands Avenue. Many residents along Fairacres would request some method of slowing down traffic using this route, traffic useage has increased significantly in the last 3 of 4 years with the new developments in the town, could we suggest 20 is plenty signs on posts or written in the road as a start, it has become dangerous along Fairacres Road with many vehicles travelling at ridiculous speeds we have already had a near miss which was witnessed ,there could be many more not witnessed.post code for reference OX11 8QG

Thank you for your report. As the route is a public highway and having inspected the location vehicles do have a choice of route that they take. Having looked into the recent history of the route I understand that the junction 'Give Way' priorities were changed a few years ago to help slow vehicles at the junctions. If there is a desire for 'Please drive carefully' temporary information signs then we would suggest that enquiries are made with the Town Council so that they can consider this (in context with all other routes in Didcot) and if they consider it to be a priority then we would work with the town council towards seeing them installed. We trust this assists and apologise for the delay in response to your enquiry.
