Street lamps in Edinburgh Close not working at night

Reported in the Street lighting category anonymously at 04:06, Monday 28 January 2019

Sent to Oxfordshire County Council 4 minutes later

As you enter Edinburgh close from Edinburgh Way. Lamps on the left hand side (as you enter the close) are all off at night. The close is very dark all the way to no 29/31 at the end, there appears to be only 2 working on the right side. This is the 2nd night I have noticed this

Warm regards

Mrs Ball (no31)

  • Thank you for your report, to enable us to log the fault to the correct unit can you please advise using the attached map the street light number you are referring to. If the unit is not on the map this would not be owned/maintained by Oxfordshire County Council and would need to be reported to the developer/landowner direct. Unfortunately we do not keep records of private lights.

  • Hi, its Edinburgh Close 003, 005 and 007 as far as I can see. I am disabled so I have wobbled around the close in daylight. I wouldn't be happy doing that at night with the lights off. I can only see oo4 and 006 on at night and it may be that 001 and 002 aren't lighting up either. Genuinely, the Close is very very dark at night at the moment. I hope this has been helpful

  • Hi, I have a further update to my last. Having spoken to a neighbour yesterday. I can now point solely at 007 being off at night. As I said before, I am disabled and cant get around so easily. My neighbour has assured me that even though it seems dark 001 to 006 work fine and the only light that is off is the one outside no 29/31. Only 007 has failed. I hope this helps you. many thanks

  • Thank you for confirming the situation, we have logged no 7 as a fault (Ref: 350189) Our current policy is for our contractor to attend electrical & structural emergencies as a priority; these will be attended within a 24hr period. All other faults are logged on our management system, for efficiency, these are grouped by area and the date they were reported, and the contractor attends against a programmed of works based on this approach.
