30 minute delays onto the Harwell Campus; queues of traffic over Hagbourne Hill

Roadworks have started this week outside Chilton Garen centre and are causing significant delays to and from the Harwell campus site. Staff reporting 45 minutes to get off site last night and similar 30-45 minutes delays getting to work this morning. Also causing queues of waiting trafiic 5-6miles northbound on A34 and also southbound exit!!

It isn;t just the A34, I sat on Hagbourne Hill for 35 minutes this morning on a road that normally takes me 3 to 5 minutes to drive along. There were queues up the hill towards West Ilsley on Bury Down as well (I have seen anything like this before). I work in a school in West Berkshire and a number of our students were late for exams because of this. Surely these traffic lights can operate outside the rush hour (West Berkshire managed to do this when they resurfaced the road between East Ilsley and Compton).
