Creation of a parking space potentially requiring relocation of a lamppost
Reported in the Street lighting category anonymously at 09:04, Mon 21 January 2019
Sent to Oxfordshire County Council 1 minute later
Resident has breached Planning Permission and is required to add a parking space in order to comply with the approved plans. Can he do so without moving the lamppost or would he be breaching the Highways Act? The lamppost is located in front of the location required for the parking space and they are attempting to avoid spending more money than they have to. I am a Senior Enforcement Officer with Oxford City and need to advise them in order to rectify the breach without accidentally suggesting they break Highways law so any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Ciaran We actually quoted the gentleman to get this column moved so its seems they have carried out works anyway looking at this. If its blocking a drop kerb then we would need funds to move it, if its on a raised kerb and protected it should be fine where it is but we dont want a circumstance where it could get hit. Feel free to email me at christopher.marks@oxfordshire.gov.uk for further correspondance on this one, il try dig out any emails that ive sent to the resident/developer Kind Regards Chris Marks - electrical officer
