Four way traffic junction with excessive speeds and poor visibility

Reported in the Roads/highways category anonymously at 15:47, Fri 18 January 2019

Sent to Oxfordshire County Council 3 minutes later

This is a junction that has got more busy over the past few years. There have been several accidents and near accidents, and it is of great concern. Drivers have to look three ways and people are taking risks, with the main Oxford Road being like a motorway at times.

  • Thanks for this report - we are currently looking at ways of making this junction safer but funds are limited. Options which may be affordable include lowering the speed limit and adding new warning signs. We are also currently looking at the relatively low-cost measure of removing the right-turn lane(s) and reverting to a centre line so that right-turners can overlap before turning. However, this would still be awkward to implement owing to the immediate commencement of double white lines going north.
