Pedestrians at crossing ignored frequently by drivers

Reported in the Road Traffic Signs and Road Markings category anonymously at 12:51, Thursday 17 January 2019

Sent to Oxford City Council and Oxfordshire County Council 3 minutes later

The road markings are worn away and the crossing is not clear. A pelican crossing would be better placed here as drivers frequently either disregard the zebra crossing or don't see it in sufficient time to give way to pedestrians. I use the crossing daily with my 3 year old son and my baby in her pram on our way to and from nursery. Oxford road is very busy and a safe crossing point is necessary.

  • Thank you for your report. However, we are unable to convert this crossing to a Pelican because it is too close to a side road/major access to flats.

For an update on the position with respect to refurbishing the road markings please see https://fixmystreet.oxfordshire.gov.uk/ report/ 1514883#update_2038398
